The LeMay Car Museum.


The incredible LeMay Car Museum is the biggest and largest car collection around the glove. This great museum is inside the guineas Book of World Records with 2,700 vehicles in 1997. After some time it got more than 3,500 cars. It has not just automobiles but buses, horse carriages, tanks, and much more. It is located in Tacoma, Washington, United States. And it is open from Wednesday to Sunday and there are discounts in ticket prices for children or elderly after 65 years old. And groups with more than 10 people.

Brief biography of Harold LeMay

The incredible LeMay Car Museum has a beginning, and this beginning is with the great Harold LeMay, who was an entrepreneur from the years of 1942 until 2000. Harold was born in Yakima, Washington in 1919, he was the youngest of three children. And he was raised by his aunt and uncle. When he grow as an adult he became part of an automobile business in Tacoma. He had his business called Victoria Bus, it began after the beginning of the World War II, and these busses transported workers. He was called to serve in the Navy and before he left, Harold conserved one of his busses in his Spanaway Garbage Collection Company. The history of his collection says that it is the way how his collection started for more than 60 years.

To create and own the incredible LeMay Car Museum wasn’t easy. He had to sacrifice a lot of time with friends and family. He wanted this from the beginning, seems like it was always his goal. He was a President of callings in his Baptist Church, at the same time he held membership in different companies such as the American Historical Truck Society, Vintage Car Club of Canada, International Society of Appraisers, and other important ones.

Harold and his adorable Nancy LeMay had the leadership of his company from the beginning, and it was in the beginning a recyclables collection companies in different places such as Pierce, AA Lucky Storage, HELM, etc. Harold had lived until 81 years old and he passed away peaceful in 2000. A Skateboard Park in Spanaway, WA has the name of Harold E. LeMay because all the good and the service he always gave to the community. Harold and Nancy’s children and grandchildren are increasing the family’s collection of cars, trucks, motorcycles, buses, etc. This collection won’t ever disappear because it is not just a family collection but a country collection, it has so much history inside that it is impossible to forget or miss out about.

He is very well-known because his great job in recyclables businesses in Pierce, Lewis, Grays Harbor and other counties. The great LeMay was splendid and very active in his community and started running other businesses, such as bus services and others.

LeMay and his dear wife Nancy LeMay collected so many autos and vehicles during their lives. This activity was private, they had the largest car and all kind of vehicle collection around the world in the 90’s. This great number still continue today and they still are recognized as the owner of the biggest collection of cars. The original LeMay Museum is in Marymount, but the one that is located in downtown Tacoma is the most visited because it is easier to reach. It is always visited by people who wants to know more about cars and their history.

Harold and Nancy LeMay had the largest collection of automobiles, trucks, motorcycles, and other cars from all over the world. It had more than 3,000 cars and thousands of other artifacts. This collection is called and well-known as the incredible LeMay Car Museum and it was accomplished for very important people of the industry. Harold LeMay and his dear wife Nancy started a charitable organization called 501c3.

You can see in this great museum the story and memories of the racers and cars. You can explore anything you are interested in, such as technology, design, history, mechanical matter, restorations, etc. In November 2003 the Board Directors had a very important meeting where discussed and approved a new name for this great and incredible LeMay Car Museum for America’s Car Museum.
