Gerry Anderson was an English, producer, director sci-fi creator and writer. He was well-known because his great futurist television programs such as “Supercar,” “Twizzle adventures,” “UFO” and much more. These programs were very popular in the United States in the 60’s. “Thunderbirds” was one of the most successful and famous productions ever, his business partners were Arthur Provis, Reg Hill and John Read. The Gerry Anderson’s vehicles performed in more than the 21 productions they had. It was a boom internationally, and there was a time when he decided to rest a bit of his career, it was because it was difficult to deal with new concepts and new technological rules. But in the 80’s and 90’s he started new successful projects. With the years he got Alzheimer and died after long fight against his illness. He surely was a great creator and artist, that brought happiness and science fiction to the kids and grown up.

Gerry Anderson invented interesting vehicles on the TV series “Thunderbirds,” such as the Rolls Royce, wich was from Lady Penelope called “FAB 1.” It was a unique model, together with this car were the five Thunderbird ships of international rescue.

The Gerry Anderson’s vehicles in the thunderbirds were cars with six wheels and one engine, wich reached 200 miles per hour. The direction of the car was led by the four front wheels.
They had special skates to avoid the snow and ice on the path.
They had machine guns and guns hidden behind the radiator.
They had computer devices like smoke and oil sprayer.
Those cars were an inspiration and well copied for the James Bond and Batman movies.
Gerry Anderson’s vehicles in UFO
The series of Gerry Anderson always had high technology vehicles, and mostly they were the main character of them. UFO was one of the first series where Gerry didn’t use puppets but real people to perform. UFO was made more for older audience and not just for kids. This movie was under the hardware rules of Gerry Anderson as all his movies and series.
UFO is mostly a battle against the extraterrestrial invaders, for that action was needed the best creation of Gerry Anderson’s vehicles, and he did his best to fulfil his purpose and to impress the audience.
Some of the Gerry Anderson’s vehicles in UFO are the following:
Skydiver. It was a submarine, it was well used to fight against the aliens. It travel through the sea by long tunnels.
Sky One. This machine had four men inside. There were three models of this Sky One, two of them were smaller and one was bigger and just used on flying shots.
Interceptors. This vehicles were just missile ships, they were controlled and ruled from Moon base.
Lunar module. This is one of the ugliest Gerry Anderson’s vehicles, it was similar to a large-mouthed fish. And it was especially made to ferry supplies and personal things from earth.
Mobile Aerial transporter. They were used to transport supplies and to get mobiles to the scene.
Moon Mobile. Its mission was to operate around the moon base been alert all the time and been below the lunar module landing pad.
Straker’s Car. They were very useful. There were two different models of this car that were used during the show.
UFO. These ships could operate even in the sky, under the water, and in space. This ship had a beautiful view and an amazing sound when it was flying.
They were some of the many Gerry Anderson’s vehicles that he created, designed and brought to life. He will always have a big part in the people that grow up with his science fiction series. All these vehicles were an inspiration for other worldwide creators of science fiction movies or series even in this time. We can say Gerry Anderson was one of the most important pioneers of science fiction series, and one of the most important creators and genius of all the times.
